2.18.2012

We've been doing it for years, but each time Matisse and I decide to foray over to the lake it's a uniquely beautiful experience—we've done everything from losing a car key in a pile of ice shards to outrunning a swirling tempest of mosquitos. This time the weather was calm and just warm enough to melt all the ice away, so we walked along the jetty and had a nice time sitting on the rocks and breathing it all in. (Never mind that I accidentally exposed some of my film in the sunlight.)

Hot chocolate date:

to ensure we didn't end up entirely empty-handed after dress shopping.

The campus ducks:

Sometimes I park my scooter curbside by the campus duck pond, because it's a nice (and close) place to walk after class. (I was a little too intimidated to feed them anything, as there were dozens of them and only one of me.)

A Valentine's Day Anecdote

One afternoon at work I was hanging a cutely festive paper chain I'd made to decorate the bulletin board in celebration of February and its impending holiday. As I was standing on a questionably stable chair with my back turned, a male student approached the counter and boldly said, "Wow. Looks like somebody has their hopes a little too high."

I swiveled around with a rebuttal written in my eyes. Then I proceeded to cut out a smorgasbord of paper hearts.
